The Seven Sisters: Aswan Garden Series

The Seven Sisters: Aswan Garden series explores themes of culture, humanity's relationship with nature, and the long history of cultivation through the use of images.

Much of this body of work was inspired by *The Epic of Gilgamesh*, one of the earliest surviving great works of literature, dating back more than 5,000 years. It reflects the myths and stories from ancient Sumeria and describes a trial of strength as well as the relationships between women, men, and nature.

The hero's quest in this mythic journey aims to discover the knowledge necessary to restore balance within his community. Frequently, this culmination of awareness is embodied by a female character whom the hero encounters. In Gilgamesh's ancient tale, women symbolize great wisdom and power, highlighting the risks of temptation and ruin. In the Epic, a woman serves as the hero's most significant ally, providing him with the essential information needed to transform himself and his world. It is through the woman that the hero gains insight into himself and his quest.
